MONTHLY MEETING: Jan. 5, 2009

Treasurers Report: As of the last bank statement the club had $2,500.39 in its account - Report Approved as presented.

 

Trails: New route/trail opened just before snowmobile season and closed 12/15/08 Drummond to Cable Trail. – Met w/ Washburn people and District Ranger. Nothing will be opened until Court approves ownership. Can’t use snowmobile trail do to erosion. Dale A. Town of Drummond is workable on getting something established to get to Cable. Dale will look into routes/trail at next meeting. Drummond to Grandview open all summer (Approx 35 Hrs / summer of work grooming)

 

Activity / Fundraisers:   Becky B. Wants to start setting up for another Poker Run. In Spring.  

 

Old business:   Early Bird Rally Iron River. Looking at Sept 26 & 27 Trails North is heading up this rally and wants all clubs to participate. Jan 2009 Baldwin, WI ATV Safety instructor training then that afternoon Trail Ambassador training Tom is going.

 

NEW Business: County Forest service is holding back the ATV money used for maintenance, The Snowmobile Alliance is going after the Forester to get the money, burms in Barnes are wrecking Grooming machinery Foresters wont let anyone into these areas to fix the burms so they wont wreck the equipment and trails.

 

New Committees:  Drummond Trail Committee: Scott Schaffer, Lisa Schaffer, Dale Alvin and Karin Sandman.

Namakagon Trail Committee: Corky White has offered but is looking for assistance to. We still need to speak to people from Grandview. Any Suggestions?

Trails: Dudley, WATVA sending information on Equipment. Wausau – Show for equip. April 3-5 Grandview trials: Dale A Need some repairs can’t do much until spring,

 

Activity / Fundraisers:   Tim & Sandy WELCOME any events or activities to their place, they are willing to do anything to help. THANK YOU TIM & SANDY. Tim suggested a cook out @ his place for a poker run ending at their place w/ chicken, Brats, etc. offered to advertise for this too.

 

NEW Business: 1st part of June 1st poker run. Dud motioned to join adjoining areas ATV Clubs so we can expand our club, Duane 2nd, Carried.  (IE: Clam Lake, Barnes, Etc.)

Treasurers Report: Current balance of $2,610.39 in its account -Report Approved as presented.

 

Trails: Dud reports the information received on the drag. This type of drag isn’t a good choice it’s a rock rake and would break easily. Tom informed us that a Drag has been given to us from a person from Port Wing and Tom & Duane will look at it to see if it is usable, Scott W. said it will need tires and new hydraulics but should be functional for now.

Drummond to Grandview trail, Needs to be signed (to make it legal!) We will look into it.

Trail from Cable to Drummond – a couple possibilities available, Needs to check further to see if possible.

Trail 63 project- STILL WAITING!!!!

 

Activity / Fundraisers:   Tim & Sandy have offered their place for a poker run JUNE 6, 2009. Tom has checked with the chamber and set that date. Need volunteers to help organize. Red, Kelly, Heidi & Lance have already volunteered to try and organize a Ride and the advertising.

Chamber Race: no information yet, Tom to check with James @ Chamber to pin this down. The race starts at Lakewoods  Resort and ends in Town.

 

NEW Business: Club to buy plat book? Brett motioned / Heidi 2nd Carried. Brett will pick it up.

Sign Order: We need to order signs for our trails/routes Tom has looked at “Scenic Signs” as well as another company, will advise when we get closer to ordering. We need to replace signs we received from North Country Riders and from Trails North. Tom & Duane have some left over but will check what we need to replace and post before returning them to the other Clubs. WE NEED TO POST TRAIL HEAD SIGNS on County M and Hwy 63, does anyone know where we can get the big white signs for this or what the dimensions are for them so we can make them? Please advise.

ATV WORKSHOP- April 4 & 5 in Wausau, We need a member to attend this workshop, the club will reimburse for mileage, Rooming, and $30/ day food expenses. Motion Heidi / 2nd Brett. Carried.

Snowmobile club wants to groom a portion of the Island Lake loop. Questions?, Concerns?

Our meeting was fairly short but straight to the point WE NEED TO Start raising $$$$ for equipment and we looked at different possible routes/trail to Cable from Drummond, Drummond to Grandview is open as is Grandview to Mason. There is a possible route to Cable from Drummond we have to look into!

Trails:  Trails are CLOSED UNTIL MAY 1, 2009. They may remain closed longer if needed to prevent erosion or damage. DRUMMOND TRAIL- Drummond trail to Cable? We are looking at several possibilities to get there, however we need to work with the Drummond Town to come up with ideas.

Activity / Fundraisers:   Poker run JUNE 6, 2009.

Chamber Race: no information yet, Tom to check with James @ Chamber to pin this down. The race starts at Lakewoods  Resort and ends in Town. Date TBD Summer Party @ Crossroads, Food, Music, beer, A chance to sell shirts & Memberships Part of money raised will come to the club From Crossroads. Volunteers: Dale A, red, Jake, Kelly, Tom, EVERYONE IS ENCOURAGED TO PARTICIPATE.

CABLE FALL FEST: We will have a tent again at fall fest. We need volunteers to cover the tent in 2 hours shifts. We would like to see 2 people manning the tent at all times. We will be selling T-shorts, Sweatshirts, Hot dogs/brats.

NEW Business: WE NEED TO POST TRAIL HEAD SIGNS on County M and Hwy 63, does anyone know where we can get the big white signs for this or what the dimensions are for them so we can make them? Please advise. Signage for our Poker run – We need to make sure that our Routes/Trails are signed for the Poker run to be legal! If anyone notices that we are missing signs please let us know, Bob said that we can Double sign the posts w/ the Snowmobile trail & ATV where it’s applicable. ATV Training: We need to speak with Larry Loch or Don Mrotek about setting up an ATV class, if you see either of them let them know to get in touch with Tom.

CHAMBER AREA BIKE RACE: Saturday May 16th 10AM Lakewoods, ATV’s are needed to direct the course and to follow up making sure we have no lost bikers.

Treasurers Report: No Treasurers Report.

 

Trails:  Trails are in good condition. Hope to pick up drag next week or so. Scott sent email wants billable trail time in. Got a load of wood chips put on the ramp by Corner bar and TJ’s house to keep the dust down. Travis brought the load in Tuesday. Tom and Duane raked our by hand.

 

Old Business:  June 13 or 14 ATV training at Cable park 9-5 decide Sat or Sun? Tom would like Sunday. Set for June 14 at the Cable Park 9-5. Need at least 12 people, it’s on website.

 

Bayfield Cty. OK on using county property from Timbertrail north almost 2 miles (1st phase).

Was to have support letter with in a week but it’s been a month from the town. Need to work with Plum Creek and Nancy about crossing land.

 

Crossroads: Summer party ATV run July 25th. Poker run 50/50 ATV club OK. ATV club will help Friday set & Saturday Sales & Ticket sales. Duane & Tom will help Friday set up. Saturday Mark D. and 4 friends to help sell tickets.

 

Saturday 6/6 poker run: Need to stop at, at least 5 places. Charge $1. or $2 for each additional card (Club decided $2.)Club looking for extra prize items. Planning to put a large basket to sell chances for $10. ea.

Tim & Sandy are making BBQ beef, Cole slaw, beans & buns must find different tickets for each item & Lunch.

 

NEW Business:  Tom: North Country Riders to ride in Musky Fest parade. Need riders to hold banner & Support club June 27 Hayward need to let parade committee know.

Duane: New trail from Cable down to the River trestle ½ black & ½ open Handicap-bikes, hikers, other side ATV or snowmobile. Hoping to get Grant. Multi use/Multi purpose trail. 22’24’ wide. Tom keeping open mind until we are invited to a meeting. County owns it- who will maintain it? Concerned how this trail will be made & Maintained.

 

Brett Rondeau: NORTAC: Meets in July to set up committee to look at trails connecting the trail system. Duluth to Ashland to Spooner and Farther. Trail 63 being opened up will be an asset to this project.

Trails: Nothing to report. New trail has been brushed out we will be getting a bill. Town to go back and finish off, need some dozer work (Rasmussen’s MAY donate dozer) We do need to schedule a work day ???

 

Old business: Email Scott BACATVA time to be turned in. Contact Bayfield County Tourism regarding approved trails

 

Fundraisers: Fall Fest was Good. We thank everyone who came out and helped. We had good presence in the community. Ideas for next year Brats/Hot dogs & Hamburgers??? Other than the expenses for fall fest it was good, we need to figure out how to cut down the expenses so we can make more of a profit.

 

NEW Business: Toys 4 Tots Ride. November 7, 2009 Lakewood’s is helping sponsor this ride and have rooms for a discount for this event. Thank you, Phil & Kathy. Check out our website for more information regarding this event.

We need to design a “Thank You” card to send to the businesses, and private sector who help us out with all our events.

State of Wisconsin Annual report is due $ 60.00   Motion to pay made by Mark 2nd by Jake.
